Write Into Football

Write Into Football is a project developed by The Word, National Centre for the Written Word in South Shields and funded by Arts Council England, to explore creative writing through football. It is a continuation of the work we have done with South Shields Football Club (SSFC) to promote literacy through sport.

We asked five artists from differing fields to use this match between South Shields Football Club and FC United of Manchester as an inspiration to create art. The artists have also put together activity sheets and educational materials so that children in the Borough can use the same source material to create their own songs, stories and poetry.
